"I make pop music for the theatre kids."

Toronto-based independent pop artist and singer-songwriter Yan Simon defines his genre as Pop Music for the Theatre Kids. Inspired by visionary queer icons such as Lady Gaga and Elton John, Yan Simon creates a unique theatrical-pop sound that can be described as powerful and indulgent. Yan’s theatre background is glaringly apparent in his music; his delivery, lyrics, and toplines are emotional, soulful, and infectious.

Since 2021 Yan Simon has been performing his original music all over Toronto, from open mics in bars and clubs, to music festivals such as the Tune-In Fest in Milton, to headlining a Pride event at the North York General Hospital.

His music video for his 2021 single "Hero" was nominated for Best Pop Music Video at the 4th Annual Canadian Independent Music Video Awards.
His 2022 single "Hey Boy" received radio airplay on the 96.9FM radio station in Toronto, as well as other internet radio stations.

Yan's stage presence has been compared to icons Freddie Mercury, George Michael, and Elton John, and has garnered the reputation of a powerful live vocalist.
