Yan Simon is a pop singer-songwriter, published recording artist, and actor based in Ottawa.
A classically trained pianist and a theatre kid at heart, Yan creates music that ranges from upbeat, synth-driven electropop, to heartfelt, stripped-back piano ballads. With his signature eye makeup, rich baritone, and theatrical stage presence, Yan captivates audiences with a style that evokes Freddie Mercury, Elton John, and George Michael.
Since embarking on his journey as a solo artist in 2020, Yan has independently written, recorded and released two albums, an EP, multiple singles, and music videos. His singles "Hey Boy" and "What Feels Good" received radio airplay in Toronto and Vancouver, respectively. He's performed his original music in venues across the GTA and Ottawa. His original song "Marathon" was licensed and is featured in the Ottawa-made Bell FibeTV film "Cassandra". Yan's full music catalogue can be found in the Music tab, as well as on all streaming platforms.
Yan maintains a strong connection to musical theatre as an active performer in Ottawa, having played lead roles in musicals such as Spring Awakening, A Chorus Line, and The Rocky Horror Show.
With a new, original musical show in the works, as well as his third album, there is much to be looking forward to from Yan in the near future.
